Who we are

A non-Governmental organization established in 2008 registered under the provisions of the Non-Governmental Organizations Registration Act, Cap 113, Humanitarian Efforts and Relief Uganda (HEAR UGANDA), is permitted it to operate countrywide in Uganda.

HEAR Uganda has a solid Governance, Administrative and Operational structure by means of which it implements its mandate as spelt out in its mission. At the peak of the structure, is the General Assembly that represents its highest authority. The entire structure is shown in the Organogram.

Background

Humanitarian Efforts and Relief Uganda (HEAR UGANDA) was founded by seasoned community workers inspired by the need to adopt new approaches to community service. There was a need for priorities to be reviewed, and new ways needed to be adopted in order to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in community service. The founders have had considerable experience working with public agencies. Notwithstanding their long and invaluable association and experience, they were disillusioned that they would not be able to make a meaningful contribution unless they established a mechanism by means of which they could make a contribution to improve community service.

They came to a conclusion that unless they established a new outfit to adorn all their aspirations with, they would not be able to overcome the various challenges and obstacles standing in the way of successful intervention. It was also felt that once they establish an organization, which would be allowed to run professionally, and systematically and adopting universally acknowledged best practices they would not only be able to perform well but also influence the other organisations that they had been associated with to change for the better. I am proud to be associated with the process that eventually came to fruition on the formation of HEAR UGANDA and to have travelled along the journey from its inception to date. I have the pleasure of presenting this profile to cast a beam on its aspirations, achievements and challenges faced along the way.
